Today, I had a really good reminder! During team prayer one of the guys felt like he needed to open up and tell us about some things that he had been struggling with. That kinda shocked me because if you were to hang out with us guy or talk to him he would be a really funny person and always really happy. When he told us that things had been really hard for him lately and asked us to pray for him God brought something back to my mind that I learned at camp.
I was reminded how we don't know what is going on in peoples lives, we haven't lived their lives, and we don't know their situations or struggles. We don't know any of that about them but yet we feel that we can tease them or say something bad about them. We don't think about what we say about people until after we say it, why is that? What if what you said "jokingly" was what that person took to mean no one cared and that there was no reason for them too live? How would you feel?
God clearly tells us to "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but only which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." I challenge you to think about what you say BEFORE you say it next time. Think if you would care if someone said that to you, how would you take it?
God also tells us that the tongue has the power of life death; we can chose what we do with that. If we want to tear people down we'll have to answer to God for that, but if we build people up this world will be such a better place. I personally really want to ask God to help me to be a builder uper not a tearer downer.
That was my words of wisdom for tonight. Now I am really tired and must be off to bed!
Good Night!
