I like to think that you know how much of an impact you made on the kids and how much English you taught them by what they say to you when they leave the English Village.
Today, when we were done teaching tons of girls ran up to Jared and started saying "sofa, sofa, sofa, sofa." I was very confused, he did teach the home class where they would have learned the word sofa but why were they all crowding around him yelling it? I went up and asked him when they all had left and he told me that it was an inside joke between them. His impact was he made the kids really happy and they knew that a sofa wasn't a person and that you could sit on it.
The other day when I was teaching I had to teach dance class (I know what you all are thinking, "Andrea teach dance? She's musical challenged." haha, well, that's what I'm thinking). It's not too hard. I teach them the chicken dance, the hokey pokey, the Macarena, and the waka-waka. When we were done teaching and the kids were leaving I was giving them high fives, all the kids said to me was "Chicken dance!" "Bye!" "Waka-waka!" Well, I guess I know that I taught them some good English that they'll use in everyday life.
With my job every day we see different kids, I think I've seen one school twice but other than that it's different kids every day. We only teach these kids for about 2 hours a day. You only teach each kid (you might not even get to teach every kid) for a 1/2 hour. Thus, we need to make our time with them count. These kids don't speak English and we don't speak Chinese which makes it extremely hard to talk to them about spiritual things and such. So you have 1/2 hour to show the kids what you're about.
This does not come naturally for most, and it is also very hard. What are we supposed to do to show the kids our God and Savior in 1/2 hour, we don't speak their language and they don't speak mine, and we have to teach them a certain subject. Well, that's were prayer comes in and living life unashamed.
Those are my thoughts for the night. If you guys could pray for us to be able to live a life that screams Jesus! And to be a good witness to our co-workers and the people that we tutor. Pretty much none of our co-workers or tutoring people are saved so pray for their salvation.
One more thing, Friday Amber, Julia, Camellia, Jared, Kyle, Aaron and I will fly to Hong Kong for 4 days so please pray for our safety and a good vacation :)
Thanks so much!!

Wow, Dre! Will definitely be praying for ya'll!
It sounds like a very difficult situation, but keep standing strong in the knowledge that we have an Awesome God, who isn't limited by languages! :-)
Love ya, girl! God bless!
